Dr. Melcher has over 25 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical and medical technologies industries with focus on driving external innovation initiatives. Prior to joining Telix in 2024, Dr. Melcher was CBO of RefleXion Medical, a medical technology company developing and commercializing PET-guided external-beam radiotherapy. Before RefleXion, he held business development roles at Xyphos (a cell therapy company acquired by Astellas), Calico (an aging research company started by Google), Johnson & Johnson Innovation (the external innovation and early-stage partnering arm of J&J), and Varian Medical Systems, the leading radiation oncology company. Earlier in his career, he was co-founder and led R&D at AGY Therapeutics and EnVivo Pharmaceuticals, both venture capital funded, neuroscience-focused discovery companies. Born in Germany, Thorsten earned his M.Sc. degree in Biochemistry from the University of Hannover, and a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology from the Center for Molecular Biology (ZMBH) in Heidelberg. Subsequently, he conducted postdoctoral research at ZMBH and the University of California, San Francisco.
